Broke my rule about going to cars and coffee alone and went. It wasn’t a bad time at all, plan on going next month.

Tonight I got a reception for the wedding I went to in Scotland . As for the rest of the weekend? Nothing much. Might go over to a friends house tomorrow and drink the left over beer from tonight. Got a test drive of a CLA45 AMG booked for Monday morning.

It’s my sister’s 40th birthday today.

So were all going out for a meal.

My step-brother isn’t coming as he, ‘can’t find anyone to sit with Harry (his dog)*’. My step-father usually sits with the dog while my step-brother goes to work, I don’t know why they humour him.

So I’ll with with my sister, her fiance, my mother, step-father and grand father aka two special needs, two wheel chair users and a racist sexist old man who loves looking for an arguement.

I’m not looking forward to it myself, not feeling too well but know that if I say I can’t everyone will jump on me. I know I’ll be ‘bus-boy’ while were out but not feeling well it’s not like I can have a drink to numb it all.

I am watching my sister’s bulldog for the weekend while she’s out of town. I have no complaints about this. Now if she asks me to watch my niece for the weekend, that’s a lot more stressful. But the bulldog is pretty low maintenance.

(I also might have bought a pinball machine this morning. Hopefully my better half doesn’t pack up and leave me when she gets home from work. It’s not exactly project car money, but it’s certainly not free.)

Not much. Going to see Solo this afternoon, then might see Infinity War again tomorrow. Gonna do the first grill of the season tomorrow Doing some shopping to prepare for our road trip to SD. I’m looking forward to hitting the road.

I don’t know what a memorial day is, but I’m about to go pick up brake parts and a starter for my old Blazer. Then I’m hopefully gonna get some really good sandwiches. After that I might swap on the manual locking hubs on the Raider now that I have the parts. Tomorrow will be helping my friend who has my old Blazer with making it live again.

I did brakes! I did the pads, rotors, and bleed on the rears last evening, and today did the fronts. The stupid bleed screw on the passenger front caliper rounded out, so I gave up on bleeding the front until I can get that replaced. I’ll probably get speedbleeders or something like that.

Unfortunately it’s forecast to rain this weekend through Monday, otherwise I’d also replace the pre-cat and downpipe that need swapping to pass emissions. So now I’m at the pool with my kid until the weather turns iffy.

Saturday is relaxation at home and eating food. Maybe putting a radio back in the Miata so that I have some tunes. Then Sunday is a day trip to Santa Barbara in the Miata. No idea what Monday is but probably seeing friends and more relaxing. Just nice to be home and not in Texas. I do not miss it being 100 degrees and humid.

I’m intentionally avoiding going to the lake with at least 5% of of New Mexico’s population there this weekend.

I’ve had a very productive morning for once. I’ve mowed the back yard (I mowed the front on Thursday because having over an acre and a push mower means I never do it all at once).

I tore apart the washing machine to unclog whatever was keeping the spin cycle from actually getting water out of the clothes. More importantly I got it back together and working.

I swept both the front porch and rear screened patio and cleaned the cushions on the patio furniture.

I cut up a small tree that was blown over in a recent storm. I’ve loaded it and a bunch of other limbs and yard debris into my truck. A neighbor is going to borrow the truck later and offered to make a dump run with my yard debris as a thank you.

Now, I’m in a chair on the back patio drinking iced coffee. Later today we’ll either go for a hike or I’ll take my son to a nearby archery range.

Tomorrow we have a birthday party. I’ll have to figure out a way to convince them that their 5yo really wants the Indy 500 in the background while he blows out his candles.

Monday I plan to drink coffee till it’s time to switch to beer.

I just “repaired” the rear hatch mounted button to keylessly unlock the doors. Nissan used a mild steel piece of metal behind the trim to hold the button in place, which rusts, breaks, and the button falls behind the trim.

I got the button back into position, but unfortunately it is inop, so I’ll need to order in an entire new trim piece because you cannot buy the button separately. Of course, I’ll have to preemptively replace the mild steel backing on the new piece or this will just end up happening again.

At least it doesn’t look broken anymore.

I had to replace the carburetor on the mower so I could mow the lawn that hasn’t been cut in three weeks.

It’s amazing. Two little nuts, a bullet plug, a screw, and two z-connectors are all that hold this thing onto the tractor. Literally five minutes of work. I primed the carb with some cleaner and it sputtered to life.

Fixing things like this makes me happy.

Today was swim lessons for the kiddos, tomorrow race car day with the 3 year old then in the evening replace the garage door keypad and fix the seam in the drivers seat of my car. Monday will probably bring more homeowner joys.
